I'm really enjoying this instrumental. It gives off a somewhat dark feel with those delays and reverb (that horn at :05 that plays throughout the song sounds great).

However, it -does- seem a bit long. Maybe try shortening it? Or adding a beat change near the end, so it doesn't get too repetitive?

Still, besides that, it's still a good track to listen to. Good work.

Waidmann responds:

Yeah...im actually redoing it

Thanks for the review!

I'll be honest, I was kinda turned off by that guitar (It was too loud/fuzzy, for my taste). But I stuck with the song til the end, and surprisingly, I actually grew to like it. And I REALLY like how the chorus sounds; the guitar and vocals blend very well with each other (I actually sing along to it in my head, hah)!

The vocals are a bit hard to hear, but I'm assuming that the vocals are just there to support the guitar, not the other way around, so I have no problem with it.

In short, good work!

Ossikater responds:

Thanks for the review! Yeah the vocals, (on a clean channel), sounded kinda weak with the fuzz guitar backing it up. So I distorted all vocal tracks to give the song a bit more of a "in your face" sound.

Golly, this is some pretty relaxing stuff you got here. Loving that guitar, and your beatboxing is good, too.

Great job, I hope to hear more like this from you!

phosphorusprocedure responds:

Thanks! Judging by the reaction this thing's got, I'll definitely try to make more of this kind of stuff.

Overall, this is a nice beat.

However, I do agree with JackRocker about the drums. I would've used a different drum set. Also, I, personally, would've made the beat shorter. Or, at the very least, I would've tried to change up the beat every now and then, to prevent the beat from getting repetitive.

Aside for that, though, I did enjoy this. Good work.

Lovin' this. Very smooth.

zekee responds:

Thanks man, makes me smile!

I can see what you mean about the olskool/modern thing, but if you ask me, I think it's fine in this category. And actually, it sounds just like the music people would breakdance to, you know? (...but I'm no dancer, so what do I know!?)

I liked the fact that, being a near 4 minute instrumental, you made sure to change up the beat every now and then, so it doesn't sound too repetitive.

Nice job, Tekk.

AxTekk responds:

Thanks bro! Well, I'm of the same opinion that actually, it's going back to the Lauryn Hill kinda beat, but some guy got pretty pissed at me for calling it ol skool when I uploaded it as a WIP, so I took the hint, you could say.

Thanks, I always like fucking my stuff up a little! Good to know the switches are appreciated.

You know, it never occurred to me that one could sample from other Newground songs... I mean, it's sounds like such an obvious idea, but the thought never even crossed my mind! So I found this (and some of your other songs, too, since you seem to sample Newgrounds Artists a lot) pretty neat.

That aside, this was a pretty nice instrumental.

I do recommend including a beat change though. It's a great beat, but a few change ups would be help improve it, I think. Alternatively, you could have somebody rap over it, like the first reviewer mentioned. Or even just sampling some vocals off of Newgrounds (and making some sort of chorus out of it) would do the trick.

Overall, this was good stuff.

JackRocker responds:

Thanks a lot dude! Yeah, I sample entirely from Newgrounds when I sample. There's a LOT of great music here that you can do that with. This was done with some heavily reverbed and delayed piano, and a bit of EQ'ing to get the bass to stand out more.

I appreciate the suggestions. I've been working on learning how to do change-ups better, but that kinda takes time for me I guess. Glad you liked it though!

From your review responses, this was apparently a "practice" song and wasn't your best. But I still thought this was pretty nice. The vocalizing (is that the word?) in the middle and end actually work for me, too.

Downloaded. Good work.

Poniiboi responds:

Thanks. Well, you'll love the newstuff I'm comin out with then.

Amazing

An amazing producer, and an amazing MC. This is a great track.

This song gives off a 90s feel to me, and that's a good thing.

I would love to see more from you with production by Freddy Fingers (or anyone that can produce something similar to this; it really fits you).

All in all, it sounds very professional. Keep it up.

Wow!

Okay, I have never reviewed a game or audio ever before, but after hearing this track, I just felt I HAD to review this.

This track is so sick! I was sitting here listening to the beat, and around 1:30 is when I just smiled and was greatly impressed at how it sounded. Personally, I've been trying recently to get into producing music. The kind of music I would like to produce is just like this song right here. I really enjoyed this song and have found nothing wrong with it. I know how reviews should include some criticism and all that, but I really can't find anything to criticized. I'm in love with this track!

Good job, Gunstar. Without a doubt, I'll be checking out your other works as well.

I make music.
